About Us
Snowbird Sports Education Foundation (SBSEF)
Snowbird Sports Education Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization that was founded in 1979. What was once just the "Snowbird Ski Team" has now expanded into a competition and training program for three winter sport programs. Alpine Ski Racing, Freeride and Snowboard. These three programs provide phiscial fitness objectives for Utah youths, ages 6 to 21 with 200 children participating annually.
Training
Includes fitness conditioning which is continuous throughout the year for the older athletes and begins late summer for the younger athletes. Overall fitness, endurance, strength, cross-training , and agility is emphasized through drills, mountain biking, running, hiking and rock-climbing. On-snow training begins as early as conditions permit. Athletes, parents and coaches participate in goal-setting and a mental skills program. The program is comprehensive and includes nutrition, sport's psychology training, and goal-setting for both skiing and academics.
Competitions
Our athletes compete throughout the Intermountain region and older athletes also compete nationally and internationally.
Academics
Academic goals are set and emphasized throughout the season. SBSEF athletes have won the Intermountain Division Scholar of the Year Award for 5 of the last 6 years. Recent graduates have been awarded academic scholarships to University of Utah, University of Southern California, Westminster College and MIT. |
