ALTA/SNOWBIRD FREERIDE TEAM
ALTA/SNOWBIRD FREERIDE TEAM (13 years and older):
The Alta/Bird Freeride Team is a competition-based program that encompasses slopestyle, halfpipe, and off trail freeride skiing. Freeride programs provide an alternative to freestyle and ski racing; has now become the fastest growing discipline within the ski industry. This will be the first year of the Alta/Bird Freeride Team.
Alta/Bird athletes will train and compete in all three aspects of freeride skiing. The program will focus on strong off-piste skiing fundamentals, slopestyle,
halfpipe, avalanche awareness, and a most importantly a top priority of having fun. Athletes need to be expert skiers, posses the ability to ski all the terrain within Alta and Snowbird.
Alta/Bird athletes will train at Alta, Snowbird, and the Utah Olympic Park. Athletes must be dedicated and compete in at least two events throughout the season. The program begins December 4th and runs until March 27th and includes a five-day Christmas camp. The program trains up to three days per week and travels most weekends to competitions. Slopestyle and halfpipe training will take place one-day midweek after school at the Utah Olympic Park. Fall dryland is available to all athletes and highly encouraged.
