Team Description

 

ALTA/BIRD – NATIONAL FREERIDE PROGRAM AGES- 14-19

 

Age: 14-19 (Athletes under 14 may be considered for program based on coaches discretion)

Scope: Elite program; athletes must be qualified based on being nationally ranked or by  coach discretion.  Program will offer a level 100-avalanche course, first aid/first responder training, backcountry days, terrain park skill development, and guidance on ski industry relations and professional skier development.

Coaching Staff:  Jason Astle, Oakley White-Allen, and Andrew Pollard

Training: 2-5 days per week; winter school athletes required to sign-up for five day program and attend dryland; Skyline/Churchill will offer training five days per week – two full days and three half days and will offer transportation from Skyline and Churchill for mid-week training; this program is only offered as two or more days on-snow.  Five day per week program – includes prorated coaching for the following - four National Competitions, North American Championships and Christmas Camp

Winter On-Snow Nov 17th – Apr 14th , weekends only through November, Dec 1st starts five days on-snow per week.  Training blocks will be implemented during the on-snow season

Conditioning:

Fall - Sept 6th – Dec 1st, Indoor/Outdoor workouts during weekdays. 1.5 hrs sessions, 48 total workouts

  • Gym access fee is not included with pricing
  • Christmas Camp: Yes, five days
  • Travel with team: Yes, athletes will be requested to travel with the team, unless a parent is attending the competition
  • Pro-rated competition:  No, all fees are included in the overall pricing for the season.  Athletes will be responsible for ancillary costs associated with travel – i.e. Coaches per-diem, lodging, competition entry, food, lifts tickets, etc
