Snowbird Freeride Devo

Team Description

Freeride Development Team- AKA " Freeride DEVO'S"

The Freeride Devo team is an awesome program that enables athletes to learn the fundamentals of skiing with a big mountain freeride AND racing focus. This program offers an introduction to Freeride Big Mountain Skiing as well as Alpine Ski Racing. The purpose of the program is to provide an enjoyable learning opportunity for young skiers interested in improving their skiing skills and meeting other young skiers. Freeride Devos will develop a love for skiing while learning to ski all mountain terrain and snow conditions. Using Snowbird's great terrain, jumps, and racing gates will provide the young skier a well-rounded experience.

All of our Freeride Devo athletes will have the opportunity to attend 1 ski race, and 1 big mountain competition during the year, all taking place at Snowbird. In this way, Freeride Devo athletes have the opportunity to be challenged with different skill sets, as well as discover whether or not racing or big mountain skiing (or both!) interests them more.

Freeride Devo team athletes are 10-13 years old. Freeride Devo team members are motivated young skiers. We ask that prospective members are able to ski expert (groomed black diamond) runs at Snowbird. It is our goal, that by the end of the season our Freeride Devos are skiing almost the entire mountain and have learned the fundamentals of ski racing and big mountain skiing. The Devo Team offers several enrollment options. We have a full season program beginning in December and a half season option starting in early January. The program ends in late March. Our full season program includes Christmas Camp, which is 5 days of training 12/27 to 12/31. Freeride Devos train on weekends and you can choose to sign up for Saturday or Sunday - or both days.

Our athletes are required to have a Snowbird season pass that includes Tram access. In addition, Devos must be licensed as a youth competitor with the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and the Intermountain Division, and a one-time competitor for the International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association (IFSA). With these memberships, the Devos will have the opportunity to compete in 1 Youth Ski League (YSL) race at Snowbird, and 1 IFSA Junior Freeride Competition at Snowbird.  The environment at both of these Snowbird events provides a great entrance to the sport of ski racing and big mountain skiing.

The Freeride Devo team is a great way to get your child excited about skiing. As an organization, we strive to create a lifelong passion for skiing and sport.  We look forward to you joining our program.

See you on the hill!
